Posted by Cecile at Saturday, October 31, 2009 3 comments
Today we ripped this meme off a blogger named Leo Maccool at the blog Butch Girlcat. It's a 50 question meme, so we decided do it in two parts. Today is Part 1. She explains that she stole meme from the ever-fabulous GREG.But, it was probably stolen there as well. So, of course, that will be as far as we go. Tracing back our theft's thieves might take some time. Link back to us at Sunday Stealing!

Top 5 Ways to Reduce Your Cancer Risk

Posted by Cecile at Sunday, October 25, 2009 3 comments
By RealAge.com
Here's a list you'll want to check twice: Five ways to slash your risk of cancer.

Doing just one of the anticancer steps is better than nothing. But do all of them and you're cancer risk could drop by as much as 30 percent.

1. Don't smoke (a no-brainer).
2. Limit red meat, alcohol, fat, and salt.
3. Eat fruit, veggies, and whole grains -- lots of them!
4. Exercise regularly.
5. Watch your weight.

Pick and Choose, Just Pick
Although there is no surefire way to prevent cancer, making healthy choices in your daily life may reduce your risk. If you don't feel capable of following all the anticancer guidelines, at least choose to do the ones you know you have a good shot of sticking to. You can add a few more later, once you've made some progress.

Don't Miss Your Favorite Show Again!

Posted by Cecile at Friday, October 23, 2009 0 comments
Watching a movie is one of my favorite things to do. Before I gave birth to my son, my husband and I watched movies at least twice a month. But after our son was born, we stopped going to the movie house thus, missing many movies I particularly want to see. Indeed, when a woman becomes a mother, almost everything changed. What we do now is rent a movie online, which works for a while. But it was somewhat of expensive and I don't have enough patience to wait till the mail comes, so we stopped renting. We subscribed to a cable satellite instead, but then again we need to pay for every movie we want to watch! Well, that didn't save us some money at all, plus I ended missing my favorite movie or show because my son watches children's show the same time my favorite show is on!

If you have the same problems like I do? Then I have a good news for you. Charter Digital allows you to watch your favorite movie or show when you want them and it will not cost you extra fee. With over 6,000 movies and shows everyday, you don't have to wait for the time schedule to be shown; you can watch it at anytime you want. Sounds great isn't it? Now I don't have to compete with my son when watching my show or his favorite shows like Diego on Nick Jr and Calliou on PBS Kids. They also do HD shows which means, your television doesn't need to have HD. So, if you are interested and wanted to learn more at charter.net/ondemand, you should click the link provided here or go to charter.net. You can also get updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page. If you are a busy Mom, don't miss any of your favorite shows or movies again. Help Give Dogs and Cats Loving Homes!

Posted by Cecile at Saturday, October 17, 2009 0 comments
When I was a little girl, we had at least two pets in our home. We have a guinea pig and a dog and enjoyed them so much. Having pets at home requires lots of responsibility like feeding them, grooming, and veterinary care to name a few. I was young then, but I was responsible for feeding the Guinea pig and I enjoyed doing it! Also love our dog because he was fun to be around, very loyal and is like a friend to us. Now, my son wants us adopt a pet and he like either a dog or a cat. The thing is that, he is very young to have a pet, so I explained to him that having a pet comes with great responsibilities on top of expenses. Plus our apartment is not big enough to add a pet. I am glad he understood. I assured him that when he is old enough, we will a pet for him.

If you think you are ready to adopt or would like to adopt a pet, there is a place you can go to and that is Pentago.com, a website that has a real-time searchable database of pets in need of loving homes. Pets at Petango are cared for at reputable shelters across the country, so you can rest assured that you are adopting a happy, well-loved pet that is looking for a new home. Finding a pet you like is very easy, all you have to do is go to their site and put your zip code, then you can start searching for your pet.

Do you want to adopt a cat? Then you should check Petango.com - Adopt a cat! the best place to find a lovable and adorable cat you will fall in love with or you can also go to Petango.com - Adopt a dog today! if you want a dog. These animals are in need of loving homes and families that will make them happy. To learn more about this website, you can follow them on twitter at http://www.twitter.com/petangopets, or facebook at http://www.facebook.com/petango. Don't be selfish, share your life with an animal companion and reap the rewards of having them in your life!

My Ongoing Saga on Anemia

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, October 15, 2009 10 comments
Two months ago after my routine check with my Nephrologist, I was diagnosed with Anemia. I didn't know I was anemic! My iron level was low as well as my red blood cells. The level was too low - 3.5 instead of the normal count of 11.5; no wonder why I have been so tired, weak and literally have to drag myself everyday into taking care of my family and my responsibility at home. In addition to my sudden crazy monthly period that last for at least too weeks which is not normal; not to mention the heavy flow accompanied with big clots. My doctor said that this isn't good for my transplanted kidneys at all that is why he is thinking of blood transfusion to resolve this blood problem. I tell you I was soaking 5 to 6 pads a day! My doctor told me that is probably the caused of my anemia. So, he puts me into treatment which is iron infusion every Wednesday. I am done with 5 treatments, but unfortunately, that wasn't enough; now I need another 5 set of infusions and that is driving me nuts! So sad, because this treatment not only interferes with my daily chores, but also with my health since the treatment is not working. I still feel the same, nothing changed. My abnormal period is over but still need to see my gynecologist on Monday to see what's behind all these, hopefully to get answers with all our questions. Yesterday, I was told to go to emergency room when I start bleeding again.

This is the reason why I have been inactive with blogging lately. And I would like to apologize for not returning your visits, ec drops, comments and not doing some meme yet. Thank you all so much for thinking of me and all the visits as well; I sure appreciate them a lot! I am hoping to feel better soon so I can return all the favors and do the memes as well! Have a great day everyone and also happy Halloween in advance!

The Cheapest Auto Insurance Around!

Posted by Cecile at Friday, October 09, 2009 2 comments
Having a husband who makes sure everything is done for me, I don't have to worry about things like auto insurance and which coverage best meet our car needs. I didn't realize that insurance rates offered by companies vary in different states. So when my husband asked me to check for Free Auto Insurance Quotes on the internet where we could compare quotes. With my patience, I have found premium auto insurance.net that give you a list of companies in a state of your choosing and lets you get free auto insurance quotes from all of them so that you can compare which of them offers the best deal for you. Anyway, I was surprised to find the lowest premium that my husband and I wanted to have.

Asset

Geico, has met our budget needs as well as our family's need. From all of the providers that I've compared, I found GEICO's quotes to be very affordable. I'll say, the search is over for best auto insurance. I am indeed convinced that GEICO is the one that would help us save money!

If you are looking for free auto insurance quotes, you should check the PremiumAutoInsurance.net and start with entering the zip code of the city where you live and submit the form. Wait for Premium Auto Insurance to give you the list of available companies. Click on any of them, and fill out the questionnaire in the form. Then, go from there where you can compare the same factors from each of the different auto insurance companies. And see the difference.

A Gloomy, but Busy Day!

Posted by Cecile at Friday, October 09, 2009 4 comments
I feel like taking a long nap this morning, why? It is because rain is pouring early today. But I have to stay awake for the reason that there is so much to do in the house. Laundry, tidying the living room and Jake's bedroom, putting away clean dishes and loading the dishwasher with the dirty ones. It seems like chores is never ending, not to mention that I need to buy a gift to bring at the birthday party tomorrow. I never met this Filipina in person before, but she invited us. We only met through friendster; I just hope that things will be well despite of that. I am sure she is a nice woman and so is her family. Oh, well, need to finish opps in between chores, multi-tasking works well this time :-)!

Unproductive Day!

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, October 08, 2009 0 comments
I didn't do much today except my usual routine like getting up early, prepare my son for school, do a little bit of blogging, takes a nap, and picking and babysitting my son after school while hubby is asleep. No cooking, but eat left over. Unproductive day that is why I feel guilty sometimes. Oh well, can't complain!

Winterizing Plants

Posted by Cecile at Sunday, October 04, 2009 0 comments
by LDS Living Staff

Don't forget your plants as you make preparations for winter!
You take special steps to get your house, car, and kids ready for the winter, but what about your plants? When you start to reach for your jacket, make sure you take the following steps to help your green beauties:

  • Get rid of your annual plants (flowers, herbs, veggies) right away. Also, trim your perennials back to just above the soil. This will keep insects and disease away during the winter.
  • Non-hearty bulbs such as dahlias and gladiolas should be removed from the ground. Dry them, then store in a cool, dry place until spring.
  • After getting rid of any weeds or dead leaves, buy some tough compost and spread it over your beds to keep them protected from winter's unpredictable temperatures.
  • Put your potted plants in an unheated garage or shed - pots frequently crack in freezing weather. If your pots are too heavy to move, you can insulate them by wrapping them in bubble-wrap and covering the soil in compost.
  • Once your plants are settled, take the time to clean, oil, and sharpen your garden tools - it will make them much more pleasant to pull out in the spring.
  • Unhook and drain your garden hoses, then keep them indoors. This will lengthen their lifetime, and you can spend those extra bucks on new flowers next spring!

I am Busy as a Bee!

Posted by Cecile at Saturday, October 03, 2009 0 comments
Yup, it is already 1:30 in the morning, but I am still wide awake working double time to finish the last task I've grabbed from PPP. Obviously, I am in need of money to send to my family in the Philippines who needs our help. Though they are not badly affected by the typhoon that caused damaging flood in Manila, they still need our support. We are just hoping that the flood from Cabanatuan will not reach them for one of the dam in Nueva Ecija has just released extra water accumulated from too much raining caused by typhoons that recently badly affected the Northern and Central parts of Luzon. I need to go to bed as soon as I am done with this opps. Hopefully, tomorrow I can start working with the tasks from Blogvertise which are about to expire any time this week.
