Tips for Eating Away from Home: Fast Food and Sandwiches

Posted by Cecile at Wednesday, April 30, 2008 0 comments
It is really hard (at least for us! )to avoid eating out especially at Fast Food.

1. Skip French fries. Have a hamburger with salad or even fresh fruit, like a banana or an apple. 2. Order grilled chicken or small hamburgers. Yes, this means skip the double, triple, or half-pound burgers.

3. Skip shakes. A 16-ounce vanilla shake can easily have more than 430 calories, which can burst anyone’s calorie budget. Enjoy a shake once in a while as a snack or stand-alone item but not with an already calorie-packed meal.

4. For kids, go for fruit slices and milk instead of soda pop and French fries.

5. Enjoy just one slice of pizza at fast-food pizza outlets.

6. Remember that adding mayo and cheese to a sandwich will tack on another 200 calories, at least.

7. Don’t be fooled by a grilled-cheese sandwich. It may seem small and simple, but the thick filling of cheese and buttered white bread slyly serves up a good 600 calories.

8. Order baked chips or enjoy fruit as a side item for sandwiches.

9. Sandwiches are a great choice, but think small, no more than six inches long (unless you order a low-fat veggie or meat-and-veggie sandwich with no mayo or cheese).

10. Choose whole-grain breads and add plenty of veggies.

Gone Fishing!

Posted by Cecile at Sunday, April 20, 2008 0 comments
This one of the State parks in Texas; this was taken during wintertime. You can imagine how cold it was. Sometimes, my hubby can be weird. He wants to fish during cold season!

Grandma watched Baby Jacob while were fishing. He was just barely five months old here in this picture.

My mother in-law and I fishing talking and watching the lake and those fish.

Jake by himself while we were watching him; he was bundled up and was feeling comfortable in his stroller :-). Wasn't he cute?

flowers on my garden in texas...

Posted by Cecile at Wednesday, April 16, 2008 6 comments

Isn't it obvious that i love flowers? These are the flowers on my garden back in Texas. Aren't they beautiful? I really love gardening, it is sad that since we moved here in Virginia, didn't plant anything at all due to small space where we live. I have few herbs and house plants in the pots 'though.

Got tagged by Gengen and Cheryll. Thanks for the tag guys and here is the instruction on how to do this.

2.Your birth month plus the word affixed or rhymed shall become the tag’s title in your case.

3.Get your birthday and add the digits involved. Example, if your birthday falls on the 25th of July, add 2 and 5 you get 7.

4.Whatever is the sum, write a list of the MATERIAL gifts you wish to receive, the number of which shall correspond to the sum of your birthday. For example, applying the case above (in rule number 3), you will write seven (7) things you wish to receive.

Me and my son, Jacob; behind us is where the dining room side of the house is...

Thomas Jefferson's house in Monticello, Virginia...

This is the kitchen which is separated from the house; where the foods/meals were cooked and prepared.

Thomas Jefferson's cooks room. This is where the cook and his/her family of ten stayed; Isn't it small? They do a lot of things here as family after the day is over. They played games, mended and sew clothes, sleep, eat and everything.

Living in Malaysia

Posted by Cecile at Saturday, April 05, 2008 0 comments
This was taken when I was living in Malaysia. It was Christmas and I was alone; my Aunt and her family spent their Christmas in the Philippines. It was the loneliest Christmas of my life away from my family.

Yes, it was me in the blue t-shirt with my Aunt on the right. I was still slim, oh! how I missed that body. This was during the Independence Day Filipino Community celebration in one of the biggest mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
