Mommy Moments: Christmas Moments

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, December 24, 2009 12 comments
Time flies so fast, and it is Friday once again; time for Mommy Moments with this week's theme: Christmas Moments! Many thanks to Chris who is the host of this wonderful meme. Merry Christmas Everyone from the Kenyon's ( Matt, Cecile & Jake).

mommy moments

Kids love opening gifts and my son is one of them. The moment he saw gifts underneath the Christmas tree, he would ask me whether he could open it even before Christmas.

He also loves to help decorate the tree...here is one his ornaments.

Every year we go to the Santa's Village where he had fun visiting the North pole, eat Mrs. Claus cookies, have photo with Santa and more.

Flavor of Christmas, Pinoy-Style

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, December 24, 2009 4 comments
Puto Bumbong and Bibingka are two native holiday treats that are bound to the pre-drawn Misa de Aguinaldo, which starts December 16 and is held everyday for nine days until Christmas Day. In the city, even well-dressed matrons buy them dripping with melted butter and sprinkled with niyog to get them going for the nine dawn Masses.

The number of street stalls serving these delicacies has dwindled through the years, as has the number of church-goers during the Simbang Gabi. But there are still a few restaurants in town that serve the faithful who attend the dawn Mass.

The Christmas Tree Test

Posted by Cecile at Friday, December 18, 2009 0 comments

You Are Meticulously Precise

During the holidays, you take celebrating very seriously. It's like a job for you.

You make sure that every stocking is hung and that every Christmas card is sent.

You believe it's your responsibility to make sure that no one is forgotten. You have the longest Christmas list of anyone you know.

You can relax once everything is taken care of. You tend to start your holiday planning and shopping early.

Pulling Sticks and Yellow Notes!

Posted by Cecile at Wednesday, December 16, 2009 6 comments
It's been awhile since my son last pulled sticks at school and we were so happy for that; but last week, he pulled two for two consecutive days because he wasn't listening to his teacher and was talking so much! Yesterday, he pulled one again and it is not good. I just don't understand why he wouldn't listen and stop playing when ask to! He knew I don't like to see a "yellow note" inside his backpack that is why he's been hiding it from me lately. The thing is, he wouldn't show it to his Dad! My son is a good little man, he is just playful, but when it comes to school work, he always get 100% on their test and even gets stars, smiley faces, stickers and stamps on it. Any suggestions how to deal with his playfulness when at school? What about listening? We always tell him to listen to his teacher, be good and don't talk when the teacher is giving lesson...but somehow, he forgeo it every once in awhile, thus bringing me a note to sign and return the next day. I love my son so much and I am worried for him.

I Need This Wool Shirt Badly!

Posted by Cecile at Monday, December 14, 2009 0 comments
This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Ramblers Way. All opinions are 100% mine.

I have always wanted to wear something I can wear any time of the year, but I couldn't find one. When I go shop, I can only find one that can be worn for a certain season like clothes you wear only on summer, or something for winter. Nope, I am not that picky either, just a simple shirt with long sleeve just like the one photo I have posted here.

While checking online for long sleeve top, I have found Ramblers Way, an online website that sell an all-purpose garment that is made of wool. Yes, you read it right! The great thing about this garment is that it is so sleek, sexy, and soft! I love that itcan be worn as a soothing baselayer during the day, for almost any activity, or during the night. It absorbs odor, thus making you feel fresh as if it's just come out of the dryer. You can wash it on machine without shrinking, thus retaining its normal shape and size. I think this Next-to-Skin Women’s Cross Neck top would be great for me. I like that it will protect during summer; I am 65% prone to skin cancer because of the medications I am taking.

Do You Spread Holiday Cheer?

Posted by Cecile at Monday, December 14, 2009 0 comments

You Spread a Lot of Holiday Cheer

During the holidays, you represent the true spirit of Christmas.

You give freely, and you enjoy this special time of the year.

There's a good chance that you spread cheer every time of the year... not just during the holidays.

You're kind, upbeat, and generous. Anyone who crosses your path is lucky.

Mommy Moments: Some of the Precious Moments with My Son

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, December 10, 2009 13 comments
It's Friday once again...amazing how time flies so fast! It is Mommy Moments once again with the theme: Your Mommy Moments!
mommy moments

Just like every mother/parent, I love spending time with my son; and I miss it when he is at school; but I have to accept the fact that my son is growing so fast...and that he needs to be away from me to gain education. I am not a perfect mother that is why I feel guilty sometimes when I nag him when he doesn't put away his toys and makes mess all over the place I keep telling myself to loosen up and let him be...just like my husband said. Anyway, here are some of the moments I cherish most with my son.

We love reading book together...and Jake won't sleep without reading before going to bed.

Jacob got this thing from me...he won't be able to sleep without me by his side...just like me without hubby.

He still likes giving me a hug and kiss without any reason or being asked...

Mommy Moments: Chore Time

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, November 26, 2009 12 comments
This week's there for Mommy Moments hosted by Chris is Chore time and here is my entry.

mommy moments

"Train up your child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it." This what the bible tells us. I am glad that I grew up poor,; we don't have a helper in the house. I was trained to do chores at the very early age of six. At the age of seven, I can wash clothes, cook rice and clean the house. I am grateful for my parents who thought us responsibility at the very young age. Now, we want our son to do the same. Here are few of the photos I have taken when Jake did chores at home.

Here, Jake was raking leaves with Daddy...

...putting away his toys...

...and sweeping/vacuuming the floor.

Thank God, We Didn't Get Hurt!

Posted by Cecile at Friday, November 20, 2009 8 comments
Tonight, after dinner, I decided to take some Bilo Bilo to Ate Delia. Before we go, I phoned her first to tell we are coming. She said it is raining, don't go because she doesn't want us to get sick, but I insisted that it's okay and that the rain stopped already. She said, go ahead but make sure you bring umbrella with you...and so I did. Our apartment is less than 10 minutes away from her house, so I wasn't in a hurry. When I was approaching the major intersection, the lights were green, that means nobody will turn left. In the middle of nowhere this guy decided to turn left and crash on us! I didn't even see him coming. All I know is that all of a sudden there was this loud screech sound of tires and then crashing and pushing us all the way to the curve. Our van's tire brook and I couldn't move it. The first thing I did was check my son because he was crying. Thank God he didn't get hurt; he was just scared! I was shocked and scared, too! Grabe nanginginig talaga ko sa takot. When I found out that my son is okay, I immediately called my husband's Cellphone, but for whatever reason, it wasn't receiving any call. Then, I called 911 to report the accident. By the way, the police station is very close to where the accident happened and responded right away. Another good thing happened, a guy happened to see the whole thing; he was behind the guy who hit us and testified that it wasn't my fault, but the other car instead. Oh my, what a relief! I was grateful for he man; sad to say, forgot to ask for his name because of the whole thing, I just wished I got his name and number to thank him. I really didn't know what to do! Thanks to the police officer who helped us the whole time. Both cars were towed and the same police officer drove us home. Even though it wasn't my fault, I should have listened to Ate Delia when she told me not to go. Oh well, I learned my lesson well again. I believe that God used her to warn me. We are home now, well go get our stuff left in the van tomorrow morning. Oh, finally I got hold of hubby who is at work and told him about the accident; fifteen minutes later, there he is knocking on the door just want to make sure we are fine. I just feel so lucky and blessed that God is always there to protect us. Accident happens no matter how careful we are...there is always someone who is not patient enough to wait for his turn.

Mommy Moments: My Fave Foods

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, November 19, 2009 15 comments
mommy moments

Sometimes, Jake is weird when it comes to foods; imagine he wants an ice cream for dinner or a cake? Yup, but did I give in? No! I just say to him that he can have either of them after he eats the food on his plate. Well, anyway, aside from eating Pinoy foods and fried rice, here are my son's fave foods...ravioli, chicken nuggets, fish sticks...

an ice cream for dessert,

spaghetti, any style, he doesn't care...Pinoy style or not!

A bowl of cereal...his snack after school...

or if he did a good job at school like: he didn't pull a stick coupled with yellow notes... a cheeseburger at McDo....

cake without icing; he loves cupcakes....

and pizza!
