Six Weird Things About Me!

Posted by Cecile at Saturday, January 31, 2009 5 comments
I got this tag from Malou and Rose :-) Thanks, Guys for remembering me again! I have hard time thinking about the weird things about me; but to tell you I really enjoyed it!

RULES: People who get tagged need to write a blog post of 6 weird things about them as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

1.) I like buying make ups but hardly or never use them at all. Well, I used to put little make up on when I was still single, but don't do that anymore.

2.) I am scared with baby animals; I can't even hold or touch them, for instance, new born chicks, little bird, baby mouse/rat any living creature that are so little.

3.) When I was still in school I hate missing it not even a half day. I don't want to miss a lesson or something. I used to cry when my mother asks me not to go to school for a day or two. Even with my son now, I hate it when we have to pick him up at for his doctor or dentist appointments. I don't want him to miss school! My husband thinks I am weird!

4.) I like hanging around with old people than people my age. I think it is because they know a lot and have more experienced in life, wiser, approachable and sweet.

5.) I can still sleep even after I drink pop or soda containing caffeine.

6.) I am a very sentimental person when it comes to things that were given to me. I keep things for as long as I can. In fact I still used my 21 year old set of scriptures even though hubby already bought me new one.

Now, tell me. Am I weird or what? I would like to know the weird things about: Clarissa, Juliana, Juliet, Sweetiepie, Richard and NanayBelen :-)! Come on , guys let us be sport here...grab it and share us how weird you are!

Cristeta, White House Executive Chef!

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, January 29, 2009 7 comments
Today Michelle Obama announced that Cristeta Comerford will stay on as White House executive chef, putting to rest all the speculation surrounding the decision.

Cristeta Comerford took the job in 2005 and is the first woman and first minority to serve as executive chef.

"Cristeta Comerford brings such incredible talent to the White House operation and came very highly regarded from the Bush family," Michelle Obama said in a statement released by the transition team. "Also the mom of a young daughter, I appreciate our shared perspective on the importance of healthy eating and healthy families."

Comerford is a naturalized U.S. citizen from the Philippines who studied French cooking in Vienna, Austria, and specializes in ethnic and American cuisine.

At first I thought they will replace her with their family chef, but I was wrong. I felt good again when I read on the news that they just want to keep their family chef. Thanks, First Lady, Michelle:-)! She's one of our own, she's doing very well, and we share in the pride. I am proud of you, Cristeta!

More women are willingly giving their C'Elle Testimonials about this product because it is an easy to use collection kit. This comes with everything woman's need in collection procees such as collection tubes, menstraul cup, prepaid FedEx air bill for return shipment to Cryo-C'elle, plus an easy to follow intructions on how to use it. If you are interested in purchasing one, you can Order C'elle Now. Right now, for a limited time you can get a limited edition of rhinestone engraved C'elle satchel when you use the code: CNB200. Hurry up, for this offer ends on the 31st of this month. Also avail their special price of $499 annual plan with the retail savings of $200. Cozmo Smart Girls

Posted by Cecile at Tuesday, January 27, 2009 0 comments
After watching the video from the widget I was amazed how Amy Poehler CozmoTV player and her two friends, Amy and Meredith put in to the show Smart Girls at the Partytogether. The show is very inspiring, encouraging especially to the children around. I can not imagine how talented those girls are! Showing how they are changing the world is a smart thing to do.Though they have different personality, style and purpose and life stories but have one in common. They are kids who are very talented, full of energy, smart, inspiring and optimistic. I am pretty sure that parents with young kids would be very happy when they see the show. And they would want their kids to be as energetic, optimistic, talented as the children featured on the show. It will also help kids develop their hidden talents and ability to do the things that they really want to do. How do you feel when your kid/s will someday be a famous writer, singer, dancer, interpreter and inclined in different musical instruments or maybe a future president of the country?

Anyway, the CN widgets has a lot of things to offer in public viewers and I really like it personally. I am glad to have found the site and that I was able to put the widget on my blog. Whether you like to travel, cook, meditate, hike, head-bang or just hang with your kids, their original shows are tailored to the things you’re into. It has shows that is family oriented, sports, weather channel and more. It is very amazing how much this widget can do. To all of you out there, I would like to encourage you to grab the widget and embed it on your blogs, Myspace or Facebook pages; all you have to do is visit or get your own widget here.

Ugly Betty on Hold?

Posted by Cecile at Monday, January 26, 2009 5 comments
America Ferrera was all smiles on yesterday's SAGs red carpet—perhaps because she didn't know the Ugly plans ABC had in store for her show. (Or, you know, perhaps because she was nominated and looked hot as fire.)

In a surprising move, ABC just announced that its former comedic golden child, Ugly Betty, will be shelved on March 26 in order to bring back Christina Applegate's Samantha Who? and launch a new comedy called In the Motherhood, starring Megan Mullally and Cheryl Hines, in the Thursday 8 p.m. slot.

ABC President Steve McPherson's nostalgic favorite (and old stomping ground) Scrubs and another new comedy, Better Off Ted (Portia de Rossi, Jay Harrington), will take the hour-long block starting Wednesdays at 8 p.m. (The former home of the dearly departing Pushing Daisies.)

So why is one of ABC's highest-profile shows getting a time-out? And what does America have to say?

According to ABC insiders, the Alphabet net is looking at more of a cable model when it comes to its programming and scheduling. "McPherson is interested in reducing the number of reruns," one well-placed insider tells me, adding that Betty—after its dip in the ratings this season—seemed the best place to slot in Samantha and Motherhood.

I think ABC is not fair! They shouldn't do that to her. She is a very good actress and I like her as well as her show. For me, her show is still one of the "best" comedy shows and therefore they should not hold it.

Foot Care

Posted by Cecile at Monday, January 26, 2009 0 comments

Before I got pregnant, I used to wear high heel shoes especially when going to church and when I am wearing formal dress for special occasion. But after I gave birth and became a stay at home mom, wearing high heel shoes is became very painful. No matter what I do when I wear high heel shoes my feet get very sore especially my heels even wearing it for a short time. It is very disappointing. I really want to wear my shoes but it became a chore for me every time I try to. I don't know what else should I do. I sure am glad to find a company who sells foot care products that will help cure biomechanically related foot problems. I heard that insoles are very effective in preventing even a cure for heel pain. Foot Care Central have the best insoles which is called Spenco insoles; a form of foot care orthotics that can help prevent and cure foot problems. Splenco insoles is perfect for me! It a soft and flexible arch cushion that absorbs shock and impact that our feet experience in our everyday life. The insoles can also help cure corns, Morton's neuroma and problems resulting from wearing woman's shoes and high heels. It is a machine washable insoles and is also perfect for those who have flat feet and prefer to have flexible insoles solution. I am so glad to have found this website, now I can enjoy wearing my high heel shoes with out any pain and problems. Heel pain is now a history. If you have the same problem like I do, why don't you check their website to learn more of this insoles?

Jesus Suffered for Us!

"WHEN...DIFFICULT TIMES COME TO US, WE CAN REMEMBER THAT JESUS HAD DESCEND BELOW ALL THINGS BEFORE HE COULD ASCEND ABOVE THEM, AND THAT HE SUFFERED PAINS AND AFFLICTIONS AND TEMPTATIONS OF EVERY KIND THAT HE MIGHT BE FILLED WITH MERCY AND KNOW HOW TO SUCCOR HIS PEOPLE IN THEIR INFINITIES."

ELDER JEFFREY R. HOLLAND

This quote from one of the leaders of the church where I belong helps me and my husband during difficult times of our lives. Jesus sure did suffered for us! He is really a Great example for us to emulate. He loves us and knows our needs. He also knows us more than we know ourselves. I am glad for His examples teachings when He was still on earth. I love HIM and I know He loves me, too! He loves each one of us, that's for sure!

Want to Know when the Best Time to Work Out?

Posted by Cecile at Monday, January 26, 2009 0 comments

It always puzzles me when really the best time to go to the gym. I thought you can go anytime you want to and that will be fine as long as you go everyday. But unfortunately, I was wrong. I have found out while checking my emails from Real Age or Quality Health (not sure). You might want to read on to find out what they said:

Is it better to exercise in the morning, or later in the day? Let your circadian rhythms be your guide.
In the afternoon or early evening, your core temperature is warmer. A warm core makes your muscles and joints more supple, which helps you avoid strains and sprains. That makes afternoon or early evening ideal for exercises that tap your muscles, like strength training, stretching, and interval workouts.

Mornings Are for Endurance
On the other hand, if endurance activities are more your speed -- long brisk walks or bike rides -- morning may be better. Your body’s core is cooler early in the day, which can make endurance activities seem less tiring. And there is less risk of overheating. But a good warm-up will be key, since your muscles are likely to be stiffer in the a.m.

Stem Cell Collection, Worth Keeping Resolution!

Posted by Cecile at Saturday, January 24, 2009 0 comments

I got a tag from a blogger friend which was to lists my new years resolutions. I wrote lots of them which I know they will be broken, at least most of them; so sad! But there are at least few of them that I need to keep, stuffs with regards to my health and my family's health as well. We should never take for granted our health for nobody can do it for us but ourselves; the doctor gives instructions and it is up to us to follow it. Anyway, I am glad that aside from taking care of my health, there is one thing we can do to also help family members and that is though C’elle, the exclusive and revolutionary service that provides women with the unique opportunity to collect and preserve vital stem cells that can be collected from the body's menstrual fluid during monthly period. Science revealed that the collected stem cells can be used in treating over 70 life-threatening diseases such as osteoporosis, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease to name a few. To do the collection process, C'elle provides the women necessary tools to collect stem cells with clear and understandable directions, and mailing instructions, making it easier to collect in the privacy of our own home. So, to those women out there, let us keep this one by going to C'elle's website and click Order Now page for more information and for the price just go to Pricing page . I am positive that we can all keep this resolution because we need and have to!

10 Careers that Top $30 per Hour

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, January 22, 2009 0 comments

My husband and I are curious about which job pays enough to live the life they wanted to. We have found this statistic from yahoo; a salary data being reported by BOL. If you are planning to change your career, consider these jobs. My husband is planning to go back to school and taking Nursing course. We hope he can get approve for a 2-2 1/2 year loan.

In just 60 minutes, you could earn enough to pay for a tank of gas, the cable bill, gym membership, or dinner out. Thirty dollars still covers some of life's essential costs. Earn that much in just one hour on the job, and you have enough to build a comfortable life.

The latest U.S. Census Bureau figures put the median household income in the U.S. at $50,233. A $30-per-hour job brings in $62,400 before taxes, or 20% more than the national median. For many people, this extra margin is just one promotion or one credential away. To boost your economic security, consider these 10 careers with salary data as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:

Comfortable Maternity Tees

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, January 22, 2009 0 comments

I got pregnant twice and those days were I was having fun buying maternity clothes. I love wearing t-shirt then because it was summertime; and back where we used to lived, the weather especially on summertime is awfully hot! I also wore long sleeve shirt when the winter came. Anyway, while surfing the net, I came across Baby Par Tees where they sell maternity products. I really like their maternity shirts and maternity tee, they are so cute. Plus they are quality made and with more generous fit for your growing belly and the baby as well. I like them because they are 100% cotton and as you can see in the picture I attached here they also use Swarovski crystals for the designs. How I wished I am pregnant again so I can wear them. Those maternity shirts looks very comfortable that you can even wear them during your baby shower party and or when announcing the gender of your baby to family and friends or just wear it anytime you feel like it. Baby ParTees Maternity Shirts is a must for every pregnant woman if you ask me. I would definitely wear them anytime, everywhere I go if I am pregnant again. Do you know that Baby Par Tee also offer line of wedding products? So for all you wedding products as well as maternity products like tees and shirts, baby par tees is the place. I will definitely recommend this website to my friends and family.

Gardening with Kids

Posted by Cecile at Wednesday, January 21, 2009 3 comments
In three months time, it will be time to do some gardening in to our backyard and front yard. And our kid/kids would like to help for sure. Here are some tips on how to garden with kids. I just wished we live in a house where there is enough space to plant veggies, fruits, flowers and herbs just like the one we have back in Texas.

Teach your kids how to garden by giving them their own small plot (figure A) that they can nurture and observe.
Make a sign for the garden with your child’s name (figure B).
To hold her interest until the seeds sprout, plant a few existing plants in containers (figure C).
Mark each plant with the tag or seed packet (figure D).

Let her pick what she wants to grow. Steer her towards quick growing plants like lettuce and cucumbers. Include bright flowers at child height like zinnias and cosmos. Kids are amazed by towering sunflowers. Plant them in a semi-circle for the feeling of a flower playhouse. Be sure to teach your child to avoid poison ivy. When you’re finished, wash with a poison ivy removal scrub in case one of you came in contact with the plant’s toxin. By letting kids have control of their own garden, you’ll be surprised at how much they’ll grow!

Pretty Flowers

I love flowers so much! They make me feel good every time I go outside and see these flowers. Reminds me of God's creations and its purpose of beautifying the earth as well as for our nourishment. We all know that there are flowers that can be eaten.
Anyway, my husband and I love nature and everything that is in there. When we go camping, we always make sure that we go on hiking and to see plants and flowers as well as wild animals. It is very relaxing and make us forget our troubles and difficulties in life even for just a short time. And most of all just stop to enjoy and appreciate the beauty we have been blessed with.

The 4th Edition Tag

Posted by Cecile at Sunday, January 18, 2009 9 comments
This tag was given to me by Umma, Beth, Clarissa and Joops. They are very good blogger. Their blogs are very informative and their site are worth reading. Thanks, guys for this tag :-).

Honest Scrap Award Rules:

When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real.

Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog.” Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on!

Here are 10 things about me:

- I don't know how to swim :-), but likes going to the beach.
- I am a trusting person and that gets me in to trouble sometimes.
- I love to shop brand name clothes, shoes, bags and purses and watches
- I am a forgiving person that is why people take advantage of me sometimes.
- I am not a selfish person and will do everything for my loved ones and friends.
- I love collecting things like bells from every states I have been to.
- I am a simple person with simple dreams.
- I love foods, cooking, but not baking.
- I love Hallmark movies and have collected some of them.
- I am an evening person and that drives my husband crazy because he is a morning person.

Now I’m passing on this award to 7 pretty bloggers: Clarissa, Maybel, Fhyae, Mye, Juliet, Iceah, and Richard.

The weatherman said we will going to get snow tomorrow. My son has been waiting for snow and I hope he will not get disappointed. Anyway, I don't really like snow, but can tolerate it if it is for my son's sake :-)!

Be a Torchbearer for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics

Posted by Cecile at Tuesday, January 13, 2009 0 comments
I use to be active in playing volleyball when I was in grade school till high school. I really enjoyed those days for I love playing sports games. My team sometimes wins and sometimes doesn't, but that was fine with us especially me. Why? Because playing games is not just for the purpose of winning but for me, it is good for my health and it gives positive effect in my life. For me, in order to become a good player, discipline and good attitudes to our team mates and opponents are very important. And for us to win, we need more practice, strength, skills, techniques, speed, endurance, stamina, focus and a strong determination to win. Anyway, have you heard about SOGO Active challenge? If you said “no” then let me tell you a little bit about the program. Coca–Cola invited all Canadians youth to join the challenge. And they will give an award of over 1,000 torchbearer sports in Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. Those who would like to join, they need to prove and demonstrate their commitment in adopting an active and healthy lifestyle. The great thing about this is that 20 of the participants will be awarded to youth affiliated with Halifax-based Active Halifax Communities. The Coca- Cola Canada said that Active Halifax Communities will be the first community organization in Nova Scotia host the Sogo Active program which is a national active program that aimed at Canadian youth. And if you are a Canadian youth and is interested in joining the program? Then visit their site now to learn more about the program.

My son and I went to Target yesterday and bought gifts for hubby's birthday. I saw this boys suit for half the original price; it was so cute so I asked Jake if he likes it and he said: Yes! So I bought it!

Calling All Gardeners!

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, January 08, 2009 4 comments
Summer is one of my favorite season of the year where my family and I can do a lot of activities outdoors. My husband and I love gardening; we plant flower plants, vegetables and fruit trees. Back in Texas where we came from, we have gardens both in front of the house and in the backyard. We grew vegetables like tomatoes, green peppers, jalapeno, okra, string beans, bitter gourd and herbal plants like rosemary, sage, parsely and Chives. My husband also planted fruit trees like plum, fig, grapes, pear and peach. We really enjoyed the fruits of our labors and even saved some money.

Anyway, have you heard about Project Orange Thumb grant? If so, are you into community gardening? Let me tell you a little bit about this project. The 2009 Fiskars Project Orange Thumb grant will be choosing twenty recipients from United States and Canada where each will receive up to $1000 green goods and up to $1500 Fiskars gardening tools. This is a community gardening grant program and that means everyone is welcome to join the contest. This must be done by a group who are interested in starting up a garden or enhancing an already existing one in their community. So if you are single, you need to form a group because you can not do it by yourself. It must to be a group endeavor.

So if you are interested, there are some important things you need to know to be eligible. You need to go to their website to learn more about it, plus there are two dates that you need to know. I encourage you and your friends to apply or pass it along to those people who are interested. The deadline for the application is coming up soon, February 17th, 2009! So hurry; And the recipients will be notified by 25th of March 2009.This Fiskars Project Orange Thumb marked their 6th year of success in 2008 and has provided over 100 community groups with the funds to help beautify their community.

Laundry Day

Posted by Cecile at Thursday, January 08, 2009 9 comments
I guess I need to do laundry today since hubby keeps asking me "are you going to do the laundry today?" I have been putting it off doing it because we are busy running errands and not because am being lazy or something. I still need to so some ironing as well. To tell you frankly, I hate ironing clothes because for me it is a boring house chore to do :-). don't you guys agree? Ask me to do anything in the house, but ironing and I will do it!

Succulents Centerpieces

I love to use fresh centerpieces in my house and here are few of them that I like so much! They are low to maintain plants, yet very sensitive and easy to take care of.

Succulents look great in low groupings, and their shallow roots and small size make them ideal as centerpieces. Decorate a garden table with a clay saucer planted with ‘Chalk Rose’ selection, ‘Pinwheel’, and baby tears. Finish the look by sprinkling small pebbles over the exposed dirt. A lot of sun and a little bit of water will keep this centerpiece thriving long after your meal is over.

Magic in Numbers
The Spice of Life

Succulents come in many vibrant colors. Add drama to your entryway by mixing shapes in a patina copper planter (#227366). Plant pink-tinged ‘Little Jewel’, and allow string of bananas, to dangle over the edge. Mark the center of the grouping with the upright stalks and mottled skin of ‘Pink Blush’ aloe . Add some silky, black stones as a decorative touch, and listen for oohs and aahs from guests.

Succulents store water in their leaves, making them the ultimate “green” plant. And they don’t require a lot of care, so they’re perfect for busy lifestyles.

Handle plants gently. If a stem or leaf happens to snap off, don’t throw it out. Just push a broken part into the soil, and soon it will form a new plant.

5 Money-Saving Food Swap

Posted by Cecile at Monday, January 05, 2009 2 comments
Swap credit for cash. This tip can really save you money better when using cash rather than credit cards. Have you noticed how chinese people uses cash when shopping? Yes, they are saving a lot. Hubby and I started using cash now and use credit cards only during emergency. And the truth is, when you use plastic, you pay more.

Swap brand name products for generic. This is so true! Generic can also sometimes healthier than brnad names products. We have been using generic name products to save money. So next time you’re at the supermarket, look to the lower shelves for lower prices.

Swap soda for sparkling water with a splash of juice. Since hubby and I need to take less sugar on the foods we are eating, we atarted using spatkling water. It is not healthy, but also cheaper and have some selections of flavor to choose from.

Swap ground beef for ground turkey. Another health-conscious as well as economically-savvy switch is ground beef for ground turkey. Ground turkey, on average, costs $1.67 per pound while lean ground beef usually clocks in at over $2.00 a pound; plus it has less carolies and more protein opposite beef.

Swap fresh produce for frozen. Few foods are tastier or healthier than a bowl of fresh fruit or some grilled, fresh veggies with your steak. A common misconception about frozen produce is that it is somehow less good for you. Produce is typically frozen at the peak of ripeness when nutrients are abundant. So, while your frozen carrots may not have the crunch you’d like, they’re still just as good for you—while costing you less.

These tips are very true and works for my famly; and if you are in the moods of saving and at the same time trying to eat healthy foods, follow these simple tips. And I assure you, you will save a lot

Something We Should All Remember!

Posted by Cecile at Saturday, January 03, 2009 4 comments

A friend of hubby sent us this story through email; and I like it. I was touched and thought of sharing it with you, guys! This reminds me of what is important in life, which is happiness; not fleeting but the lasting one.

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably combed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready.

As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window.

'I love it,' he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy.

'Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait.'

'That doest' t have anything to do with it,' he replied.

'Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged .. it's how I arrange my mind. I already decided to love it. 'It's a decision I make every morning when I wake up. I have a choice; I can spend the day in bed recounting the difficulty I have with the parts of my body that no longer work, or get out of bed and be thankful for the ones that do.

Each day is a gift, and as long as my eyes open, I'll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I've stored away. Just for this time in my life

Old age is like a bank account. You withdraw from what you've put in..

So, my advice to you would be to deposit a lot of happiness in the bank account of memories!

Thank you for your part in filling my Memory bank.
I am still depositing.' Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred.
2. Free your mind from worries.
3. Live simply.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less.
